Thank you for joining us on Saturday, May 6 for our Wildflower Stroll at Point Petre. It was a beautiful day. We are grateful to John Lowry for describing the flowers and pointing out everything that was special about them. The Twinleaf is remarkable because it is a Carolinian species and rare in this part of eastern Ontario.
Dale Smith compiled a list of the birds that we saw and heard - 18 species in all. The Yellow-rumped Warblers were jumping through the branches and we were serenaded by at least two Red-Bellied Woodpeckers. Unfortunately, there was a lot of garbage to pick up. Thank you to you all for helping with that. Our next Stroll will be on June 10. We will investigate the meadow and old farm area of Prince Edward Point. I hope to see you all again soon on the South Shore.
